Admission requirements

Faculty of Arts - Postgraduate Programs

1. Diplomas

The Faculty of Arts offers diplomas in the following majors:

Admission Requirements for the Postgraduate Diploma Program (Media):

1. Applicants must have a university degree or an equivalent in other majors.

2. Graduates of all majors, other than media, must submit a proof of two years work in one of the media fields.

3. Applicants must graduate with a "pass" grade in their bachelor's degree.

Duration of the study: Two years (Primary / first / preliminary and secondary/ second).

Admission requirements for the Diploma in Social Development:

1. Applicants must obtain a bachelor's degree in Arts from one of the departments of the faculty or equivalent departments from other faculties.

2. The applicant must be employed in the field of development.

Duration of the study: Two years (First/ primary and secondary/ second)

Admission requirements for the Diploma in Industrial Sociology:

1. Students must obtain a bachelor's degree in Arts from one of the departments of the faculty or equivalent departments from other faculties.

Duration of the study: Two years (First and second)

2.  Master's Degree in Arts

The Faculty of Arts offers a Master's degree in the following majors:

Admission requirements for the Master's degree:

1. The student must obtain a bachelor's degree in Arts or an equivalent degree from another academic institution (scientific institute) which is recognized by the university. This matter only happens with the condition of studying certain courses proposed by the scientific department, approved by the college council and authorized/ ratified by the university council. An internal coordination should be conducted among the applying students, taking into account the colleges' capacity.

2. Students who have obtained a diploma in Media with a minimum overall grade of "very good" may be accepted into the preliminary year in the Media department.

3. Students holding a bachelor's degree in Arts with a "pass" grade from Zagazig University only are eligible for a Master's qualification.

4. Regarding the Master's preliminary year, graduates from corresponding / other departments in Egyptian universities with a "good" grade are accepted, except for Al-Azhar University, which has a different academic study in the first university stage compared to other Egyptian universities.

5. Registration for the Master's degree is limited to those who have completed the preparatory year in the Faculty of Arts at Zagazig University due to differences in regulations and study materials.

Duration of the study: five years at most.

(3)  Doctoral degree in Arts:

The degree of Doctor of Arts is awarded in the following majors:

Admission requirements for a doctoral/ doctorate/ PHD degree:

1. In order for a student to be enrolled in Doctoral degree in Arts, he must have obtained a Master's degree with at least a "Good" grade, or an equivalent degree from a recognized academic institution. In addition, the applicant must enroll in the department from which he/she obtained his/her Master's degree. Therefore, it is not allowed to enroll in any other department.

2. Registration for a doctoral degree is limited to those who held a Master's degree from Zagazig University or its equivalent. As well as those who have obtained a Master's degree from corresponding colleges and departments, other than the Media Department in Egyptian universities, which only accepts the thesis system. It is a requirement that the Bachelor's and Master's degrees are consistent and identical. Furthermore, Master's degrees based on the credit hours system are not accepted due to differences in regulations. In addition, this system is required a pre-doctoral year at the universities from which they held a Master's degree.

Duration of the study: five years at most.
